Me…A christian blogger..Who'd-a-thunk-it? GOD!

Tag Archives: pray

Well ya’ll… It’s been FAR too long since I have taken the time to sit down and blog. But today, I blog. Let’s just say that I had an experience earlier in the week that was worth writing about. On this blog I have spared no expense sharing my heart. You all know that I am a sinner. The whole reason I came back around to Christ was because my life was headed in the wrong direction, and filled with sin and suffering. I am not too self-righteous to admit this. However, I want to share with you – there are a lot of people who are. I feel bad for those. My heart reaches out for those who appear to themselves “on a high horse”, and some of them – I am finding – are “Christians”. That’s not the way it was intended to be. We are called to BE THE GOOD in the world. When we see someone who has overcome sin, hurdles, and obstacles in life, it’s not up to us to judge or condemn.

I ran into a person in a restaurant the other day. To say the least, it was an unpleasant meeting. She called me by name as I was walking out, I responded and walked over, then she asked: “you’re a Christian blogger right?” To which I replied “yes.” Then the fun began! (sarcasm). Sheer attack is what I was faced with.  She began yelling, pointing, causing a scene, name calling, and just downright being rude. Contrary to what I thought my reaction would be (ahem-slam her head into the wall behind her ) I was gentle, calm, and began trying to make sense of her madness, even to offer a ‘conversation’ (to no avail).  I quoted scripture in rebuttal. (To which I was impressed, I didn’t even know that was in there!) This Cherish,  The one who has been overtaken with the mercy and grace of God, has changed my heart of stone to a very soft ball of flesh.

It made me realize that all the things I have been saying is true. I am a changed person. God has done something INCREDIBLE through little ole me. As I left, I wondered who told her she could throw stones? When I walked away from that mess of a person, I was somewhat proud of that event that occurred. Even though it was a bash to my “ego”, I realized that I have lost my ego. I realized I have lost my “pride”(which was too big to begin with)  and became solely dependent on God to fight my battles for me. It was truly amazing to walk away feeling on top of it.  I had nothing to feel ashamed about – though she did. (Though probably too self-righteous to admit it.) The bible warns against this here: Romans 12:16- Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.  Afterall, Matt 7 says:  Judge not lest ye be judged.

That experience in itself made me ponder. A hypocrite like that is the reason people don’t go to church. The reason some are afraid to go to church, and  who’ don’t lik’e to go to church. It’s because a “Christian” like that is on the pew behind them!  It’s Christians who call themselves Christians on Sundays and get into brawls and fits of rage that cause problems.

Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. If you live by those guidelines you realize everyone starts somewhere.

Let’s See What the Bible Really Says About Judging:

“Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” (Prov 31:9)

“Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt show her all her abominations.” (Ezek 22:2)

“But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.” (1 Cor 2:15)

“Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?” (1 Cor 6:2)

I have decided that I will stand for what God wants from me in this lifetime. Though it doesn’t make worldly “sense” to me, I trust God – and my measure of faith is all I have, and it’s sufficient. 1 Corin 2:10 “But God has revealed them to us through is spirit. For the spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows, the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the spirit of God.” Romans 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. EVERYONE is a sinner. But it is in honestly, sincerely, wholeheartedly asking God to forgive you of it – that makes you new and forgiven.

I am forgiven.

Proverbs 18:19- Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

So I thought back about what happened in the restaurant, and God led me to this. Galatians 5:19-26

Now the works of the flesh are evident which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dessentions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; Of which I told you in a time past that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. IF WE LIVE IN THE SPIRIT, LET US ALSO WALK IN THE SPIRIT.

So, to the lady at the restaurant… I will advise you (as a Christian) read Galations 5:19-26. As I read it, I suffer the condemnation of the flesh. (As do you.) It seems to me that you and I are just alike in Christ’s eyes. However, I walked away and WALKED IN THE SPIRIT in the face of attack.

God bless,

Cherish

Every Knee will bow, and every eye will close.

I don’t think a lot of people will understand what I’ve been through in the last year so, and I don’t rightfully expect them to. See, God has done a lot for me. He pulled the blinders off, he ripped me apart from my “self” and I am so thankful and greatful that he broke my heart so deeply that my perspective changed. That my world changed. I started to see the people in my life differently. I saw who my true friends were. I began to see myself at a distance. How self-centered and worldly I had become. He showed me what he offered and I realize that the world wasn’t enough for me. I was honestly ashamed of who I had become…..

I was self-centered and egotistical. I was self-righteous and unsympathetic. I was mean, crude, and even heartless in some instances. If I went back six months I would not recognize myself and that’s something only God could’ve done. I wanted what I wanted and that was it. No discussions, I didn’t need any permission, it  was my life.

BUT…………….. I couldn’t be more grateful and thankful that God took that away from me. Once I made the decision to live for him from this point forward, and honestly made it, and meant it.. things changed.

I had begun saying “God whatever you want and I meant whatever you want, to take it- leave it- give it- hide it- break it- shake it- whatever you need- I’m there.”

My life changed, my heart changed, my focus changed, and I’ve been living in the plethora of what God wants to give me and the overflow that they talk about- I am just now seeing it my life.  I can’t wait for tomorrow! I’m literally at the point my life that I can’t wait for what’s next.

Have a great week everyone!

Cherish

God, talk to me today. I feel your presence upon me – hovering and covering me – yet I’m not hearing you. Guide me lord. I pray my flesh is a slave to the holy spirit inside of me. I pray that you move through me and work through me without me having a chance to back down or look back. Lord make me bolder, make me wiser. Make me more compassionate and kind. Teach me your ways and lead me forcefully to your path – for I don’t want a chance to stray. This world has nothing for me. I am yours completely.

Thank you for the people and opportunities that you have placed in front of me. Thank you for the blessings I didn’t expect. Thank you for your faithfulness, mercy, grace and forgiveness.

I pray for my love. I pray that you give him supernatural strength and energy to do what the spirit requires. I pray your sharpen him so much that he cannot fail. I pray that any guilt or doubt in him be removed and remind him why he’s here. Give his soul understanding, comfort and a raging fire.

I pray for my enemies. You know them lord, even the ones I can’t count. You told me that the attacks would come. What my enemies don’t know is that you have forwarned me. You have revealed their schemes to me, and I know. I am prepared for that battle because of you lord. Thank you for arming me. God, I answer you alone. I pray the holy spirit convicts my enemies and you will fill their hearts with understanding, compassion, and forgiveness. You brought me to this battle, but you also gave me the sword. I will fight for you. I will fight for my will in you. I will forever fight for my place and others place in the kingdom.

The stakes are high. But God you are higher.

Lead me, guide me, protect me.

Amen.

I rolled out of bed this morning a little on the late side. I woke up thinking.. Gee, I haven’t posted a blog in awhile. Funny how things happen in a day. I was overcome with the need to pray this morning. I had a very thankful heart that had this insane desire to speak to God and thank him personally for everything he has done and is doing in my life.

When I first met my “soon to be husband” we went on a very extreme spiritual walk together. We felt God moving in everything around us, and we knew that God himself had put us together. He told me early on that ” you need to get a passport, because God said you need one.” Well I will admit I scoffed it off a little because I hadn’t exactly been an avid traveler. (matter of fact I had never ventured passed 4 states.)
At any rate this morning I had a fire lit under me to go get a passport.

So I went to get one….

From there interesting things began to happen….

I walked in to the post office and sat waiting for awhile. A little while later a man and his family came walking in, and this man was humming non-stop. You could tell he was joyful and happy inside. The kind of happiness that only peace and comfort through God can give you. I minded my own business as they sat across the room.

Within 10 minutes this man walked over to me and said he had been praying for me since he walked in. He asked if he could share a scripture with me that God had given him – and immediately I said yes.

20120418-112036.jpg

He read that scripture to me and had a little more to say. He explained that God has his eyes on me and that I have something special to do. He called me royalty. I never thought about myself as royalty, but I guess we all are since we are descendants of a king. It reminded me of Shelly Wilson’s song: Did you know. If you don’t know Shelly, here is the link to her ministry.

I smiled, using him, God showed me that I was on the right track. Apparently it was long overdue to get a passport. I was next in line, so with that word – I got up and started the process. As I reached in my wallet to pay the fee – someone came up from behind me and placed a 100 dollar bill on the table.

It was that same kind gentleman that had given me a word from God earlier. I was perplexed. No one had ever given me money, especially of that magnitude before- and more so from a perfect stranger. You will recall from my earlier blog my trouble with finances lately ULTIMATE SACTRIFICE. GOD IS GOOD! The gentleman told me that God told him I needed it.

As I left, I went over to that gentleman one more time and thanked him and asked him about the 100.00 bill. He explained that GOD had given him word earlier that his passport would be paid for him. He said when God told him to give me that 100.00 he did it. Immediately following his act of obedience, his wife called and said she just received a 200.00 check that was unexpected. In gambling I would say he made out pretty well by doubling his investment through Gods request.

I inquired more about him. He said he was a missionary from this area, and he had been trusting God 100% in his finances. He explained that for a family of 5 it can be tough at times, but also he had a joy in his face telling me that God has provided. Then he began to recite Matthew 5:26-34

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me (He watches me)
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches (I know he watches)
(I know he watches me)

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me (He watches me)
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me (He watches me)
He watches me (I know he watches me)

I left that post office and thanked God for that blessing. The last words that fellow said to me was “I’m investing in your ministry”. I never even thought of myself having a ministry. I guess if we look up the definition it is SERVING. So I guess I do have a ministry. Thank you to the gentleman, (I didnt even get your name) and Thank you to a God that meets real needs.

For those of you who don’t know what Brookshires is – it is a grocery chain here in Texas, like a Publix, Winn Dixie, or Food Lion would be. The Blog You Rang, God? reminded me about this story that has yet to be told. I used to believe that God only showed up on Sundays. I thought you could only touch God through being in church. Boy, was I mistaken.

One evening I went to Brookshires to pick up three simple items: Pepsi, Advil, Little Debbie snack cakes. My trip inside wasn’t going to take that long, so I didnt even bother getting a cart. I picked up item #1, gathered item #2, but when I got to isle 10 to pick up item #3… my knees buckled. I was with my boyfriend at the time, and he laughed at me as my legs wiggled beneath me and said I must’ve been so blown away by him my knees buckled. I laughed, and said “No buddy, but I know what this feeling is and I must get out of this store!” I grabbed my item, rushed to the check out, and went straight to the car. There I felt the wind of the spirit come over me and I began to shake uncontrollably.

Now in retrospect this part of the story is funny, but then it was just wild… He walks out to the car and sees me shaking like a leaf and almost convulsing in the driver seat (I was parked..btw, you can’t drive while in a full on holy ghost fit). Anyways, he was ready to call 911 and hospitalize me. Poor thing, he didn’t understand. To be honest, I can’t say that I did either. I just told him to go away, that God and I had some business to tend to. Needless to say he didn’t leave so what ended up happening was this….

I got the holy ghost, touched his hand, then he got the holy ghost. So here we both are, in the middle of Brookshires parking lot, fully lit, cars driving by, security camera fixed on us.. and I am convulsing inside the car, he is shaking outside the drivers side door, and we are both looking mighty silly looking like clucking chickens.

He ended up falling out on the concrete before God let go of him. Once that happened, I got the spirit of laughter, and couldn’t quit. I laughed, and laughed, and laughed..Oh, It was quite a sight to see. When I die, I’m gonna ask for God to replay that for me. I think I will get a kick out of that.

What I didn’t know, was he had never experienced the holy ghost before. He also never spoke in tongues. Well, those two things changed that night. God is definitely real. Tongues is real. Holy laughter is real. God will show up on Sunday in church, and on a Monday in a grocery store.

Oh what a life!

Well tonight was quite an eventful evening. I decided to come home after work and go watch a movie and have dinner like a mini-mid-week date night. Well after watching  Wrath of the Titans (I do not recommend it btw) we went to dinner. That is where all the fun happened! I’m sitting across the table from my date, and we are having casual, random conversations. Then all of the sudden, he closes his eyes to pray. (Granted I thought it was a little odd because we pray when the food comes, not generally before I smell it coming out of the kitchen)..

But at any rate, I rolled with it. I noticed he prayed an awful long time, but I felt it would have been rude of me to interrupt. So I sat, waited, watched, huffed *once.  After that he looked up and said “God is on me”. I didn’t look at him like he was crazy because I know how God shows up, but I was perplexed not knowing what he was showing up like that for.

I ended up eating half my meal alone because he went to the car to take the phone call. At any rate, I just sit here and think about it. Who would have thought that God would show up before dinner prayer? Before Sunday. It reminded me how we forget that God is all around us all the time. I have spent so much time calling out to him here lately, that I probably wouldn’t hear him call me because my line would be busy. I was a little jealous tonight when he got the call from God, the holy spirit of God, and I was left wanting. Then again, I sit here and realize that the call wasn’t for me this time. This situation reminds me of the Brookshires Holy Ghost experience….Ohh Ohh.. I have my next Blog!!

Cherish

“I just want to mad for awhile” I could hear myself saying inside. I had already had a rough day, and staring at the pile of bills in my lap only made it worse. Sometimes you just get so far pushed down during daily circumstances that you just want to pout. What makes it even more irritating is when you have made up your mind to pout, and no one let’s you do it! Well that particular reason is why I am blogging today. Yesterday all I wanted to do was be mad awhile. I wasn’t hurting anybody, after all I just wanted to be with me, myself and I when I was doing it. Well that didn’t last. Do you guys have someone that you have in your life that won’t let you be sub par? Someone that when you just want to be mad, they auto correct you and make you feel bad about feeling bad? I do! The only problem is, when you want to be angry and they start praying for you as you are ranting and raving – it only makes you more mad! That certain someone did that for me yesterday. I was in the middle of my ranting, and they start praying “God, please be with Cherish right now, convict her of her attitude and make her uncomfortable until she hands it over, amen” (arghhhh!!!!!!!!) I was screaming in my head. Rolling my eyes and completely feeling like busting this person in the nose – even though I knew they were right. Eventually that evening I went to my prayer closet and handed everything over. Gosh it felt good. I just wanted to dedicate this blog to those people out there that push us, that don’t accept subvpar from our lives, and ultimately make us better people and better christians. So even though I want to bite your heads off when you are praying me through, I ultimately thank you.

Cherish
